1. A network of underground pipes and pop-up sprinklers controlled by manual or automatic valves, which supplies water to a playing field or other designated area.
This is a picture of an installed sprinkler irrigation system in the middle of a lawn. These sprinklers retract after the watering process is over to avoid being a hazard to mowers and people walking through the grass.
